Independent Travel Guide to Mtskheta

Updated: 13 March, 2018 seen 1,040

Prefer exploring Georgia on your own, you call yourself an indie, even a rough traveler? Then this guide is for you - explore Mtskheta by your own - no tourist groups, just you and your free spirit in one of the most beautiful Georgian towns - Independent Mtskheta Travel guide.

The best way to getting to Mtskheta is either by a taxi or marshrutka leaving from Didube station in Tbilisi. Cost per ride with marshrutka - 1 GEL. If you still prefer taxi - I recommend using taxify mobile app.

Tip: you can get to Tbilisi mall with marshrutka and from here order a taxi (I negotiated a street taxi from Tbilisi mall to Mtskheta city center for 7 lari).

N.B. I have excluded Jvari monastery from this guide as it would require negotiating another taxi from Mtskheta, but if you have some time and you are not on a super tight budget - take your chance and visit it - you will see one of the most beautiful views towards the town of Mtskehta from up there.
