Georgia will never end to surprise you, so today after finish concreting tasks for my country house foundation I spent some time reading Georgian websites (I have been absent from Georgia for about 4 months and haven't red news lately). One of the first I red was article about new airport/airfield construction in Ambrolauri, region of Racha.

I red the title and thought - wow, cool, then I red the whole article, and condemned - Awesome, they are not only to construct new airport, but they are going it to finish until the end of the year (2016), that's about 4 months. There is just one thing which makes me concerned - it's pre-election time in Georgia and a lot of can be told. Anyway:

The Georgian government plans to build an airfield  by the end of 2016 in Ambrolauri - the regional center of the mountainous region of Racha-Lechkhumi.

Construction of the airport in Ambrolauri is very important to ensure that people do not leave the region - said Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili.

"I think that before the end of the year we will be able to bring the airfield in Ambrolauri to working condition, and the runway will be completed.... "- said Prime Minister.

This solution assumes that the construction of the strip, terminal and technical equipment of the airport government will carry out on the basis of direct contracts with private companies, without prior announcement of the tender and selection of contractors on the basis of competition.
