At the start of 2026, we spent 2–3 nights at Lemon Tree Premier, Malad, Mumbai while returning from Goa to Tbilisi, with a stopover in Mumbai.
We were looking for a practical option rather than a luxury experience. The price made the decision easy: we paid around $250 total, roughly half of what many central Mumbai hotels were charging for similar dates. There was a reason for that.
The hotel is located in Malad, which is about an hour’s drive from South Mumbai (Colaba, Marine Drive, Gateway of India area), depending on traffic. And in Mumbai, traffic is not a minor detail — it’s a factor you must price in.

If your plan is to explore central Mumbai extensively, this location isn’t ideal. But if you’re:
- In transit
- On a short stopover
- Visiting the western suburbs
- Optimizing for price
…then the trade-off may be acceptable.
For us, it was a transit stay between flights, so the location worked.

Compared to similarly rated hotels in central Mumbai, the price difference was significant. Many alternatives were nearly double the cost.
At $250 for 2–3 nights, it felt fair. Not a bargain of the century, but good value relative to Mumbai standards.
This is the part worth highlighting.
The hotel has a disco bar, and the music was loud — very loud — until late at night. Sleeping wasn’t easy.
If you’re traveling with kids (which we were), this becomes more than an inconvenience. It’s something you should seriously consider before booking.
If you’re a heavy sleeper or staying out late yourself, it may not bother you. But for families or light sleepers, this is a real drawback.
Pros:
- Good price for Mumbai
- Clean and comfortable
- Solid 4-star business hotel standard
- Fair value for money
Cons:
- Location far from central Mumbai
- Loud nightclub music at night
- Not ideal for families sensitive to noise
Lemon Tree Premier, Malad is a practical, reasonably priced option if you understand what you’re getting:
You’re trading central location and quiet nights for price.
Would I stay there again?
Yes — if the price gap remains significant and I just need a short transit stay.
But if traveling with kids and planning early nights, I would either:
- Request a room far from the disco area (if possible), or
- Consider paying extra for a quieter hotel in a better location.
For $250, it was fair. Not exceptional. Not terrible. Just a rational choice that worked for our specific situation.
