The last week of May turned into one of those spontaneous Georgian adventures that are difficult to plan but impossible to forget.
It began after Renée returned from an overnight stay with her classmates at Hotel Kopala in Tskneti. We picked her up directly from the school bus and immediately headed east toward Lagodekhi with friends from the BIST community.
Along the way, we made several stops, including a visit to the beautiful hilltop town of Sighnaghi. The weather was unpredictable, with some very heavy rainfall, but that only added to the atmosphere of the journey.
After finally reaching our destination, we enjoyed an amazing traditional banya and spent the evening watching fascinating documentaries created by Russian avant-garde filmmakers. The films explored marine biodiversity around Sakhalin and offered a completely different perspective on nature, art, and the environment.
The entire experience was wonderfully unusual, creative, and memorable — a true Château Chapiteau weekend.
On our way back home, we stopped to visit friends and returned with some excellent local wine, fresh cherries, and peaches.
Good friends, Georgian landscapes, unexpected cultural discoveries, fresh fruit, and wine — this is the good life in Georgia.
