This was one of the most beautiful and craziest days, we experienced in Crete, during our 3 weeks long trip around the Island (June 2017).
Seems, it was just in the morning, we took our rental Opel car at Agia Marina and we were heading nowhere. Just exploring the Island. We had a lovely breakfast at Cafe Mixail Malandrakis in Kalydonia, spent some time at lovely beaches near Kissamos, followed a rough route to Balos Beach, turned back and had one of the best Cretan cuisines at Gramvousa in Kaliani, discovered a cafe with a spectacular view and even met a donkey at Beata's Orange Juice Bar
Sounds like a lot? Nope, it wasn't enough yet - by the end of the day we traveled to at least 3 more beaches, unfortunately, I did find it hard to keep the records of all of them (just took the photos), and just late in the evening, we booked a 4-star hotel Libyan in Palaiochoro (Top Hotels and Apartments to Book in Palaiochora, Crete). But that's not all, we took a wrong route (suggested by Google) and discovered ourselves on the offroad, literally. some 900 meters above the sea level.
Rocky beaches at Crete
Beautiful scenery with flowers and small rock piles. Kind of miniature from El Torcal adventures we had a year ago: In The Searches For El Torcal - Wilderness in Spain. On the other hand, these abandoned and rocky Cretan beaches reminds me beaches near Black See, see: Postcards from Batumi, Georgia
Beautiful, non-touristic beach in Crete
Rumor has it, this beach was popular among hippies in 1970-ties. Unfortunately, I didn't keep the record for place name
Our rental Opel
This poor car experienced a lot of rough roads tonight.
Chasing sunset in Crete
Another beautiful beach in Crete, another great HDR photography while chasing sunset. See: Chasing Sunset Photography with a Strong Foreground (Pāvilosta / Jūrkalne)
Girl and the sea
I have got the most beautiful girl to photograph. See: Postcards from Chania
Culmination for the night
