The Republic of Užupis (Vilnius, Lithuania)

I have traveled to Vilnius, Lithuania a lot, for most of the times using Vilnius just as a transit stop. I decided to change this. It was my 31st birthday, and I opted for celebrations in Vilnius (I have a goal - to celebrate my birthday each year in one of the capitals of former Soviet Union's republics, so far I have celebrated already in Yerevan and Tallinn). I had read in some tourist brochures about The Republic of Užupis, and thought - what a cool site, I should put this on my travel…

Plaza de España: A Historical Marvel in Seville, Spain

Plaza de España undoubtedly ranks among the top 10 must-visit tourist attractions in Seville, Spain. Here's a delightful anecdote from my visit: I stumbled upon the name of this iconic place only after completing my photography session. By sheer chance, I decided to ask a passerby about the name of this fabulous location. To my surprise, the gentleman burst into laughter, revealing that he was, in fact, a guide for this very place. With a smile, he informed me that the place is called Plaza de…

Vilnius TV Tower and Observation Platform

The Vilnius TV Tower  is a 326.5 m (1,071 ft) tower in the Karoliniškės microdistrict of Vilnius, Lithuania. It is the tallest structure in Lithuania, and is occupied by the SC Lithuanian Radio and Television Centre. It was my birthday morning when by chance we made a visit to Vilnius TV tower. We simply get lost in Vilnius, as we tried to find city center (remember no tomtoms or what-so-ever devices here). Somehow we discovered that it's just here, well not the city center, but the tallest…

Public Service Hall in Tianeti

Georgia is well know of its unique style and design for Public service halls across the country. The most famous probably is the Tbilisi Public service hall (Ups, I don't have a separate article about it yet, but yes, there is a good reason to make one soon). I was surprised when noticed a futuristic public service hall in Tianeti (small rural town located some 75km from nations capital Tbilisi), as the only cool sites I have found so far in Tianeti were Kuzh Park and a lovely roadside…

Kuzh Park in Tianeti

Kuzh park is located in the town of Tianeti, Georgia. We first discovered it at the end of October 2016, and ever since we have been returning here once in a while, especially now with our baby girl.  I didn't find much info about this park on the internet, thus at the end of October I visited it, made some photographs, and decided to extend my Georgia travel app, by adding this place on map. There is a lovely cafeteria - Vanessa located just before the entrance to this park. Children's…

Viva Kaunas - City Under Your Feet

I remember from a trip to Italy, once we were in Florence - we specially searched Michelangelo Square as it promised to give the most stunning views of city. In fact it did - see: Michelangelo Square in Florence, Italy. It was at the start of August (2016) we were on a birthday trip to Vilnius, and our road took us through old Lithuanian capital city - Kaunas. Our first stop, by chance, was at the place called Viva Kaunas - it's actually a restaurant offering to dine almost in the sky. In fact…

Kindzmarauli Corporation Wine House in Kvareli, Georgia

Right here comes another interesting Georgian Wine House, with a super cool name - JSP Kindzmarauli Corporation Wine House, located in the Kakheti, town of Kvareli. I must admit -  I had never heard of tis winery before, on the other hand I don't call myself a wine expert. Thus I can at least tell which is mine favorite Georgian wine - Khvanchkara.  We arrived here from another winery, located just a few kilometers from Kindzmarauli corporation, see Wine Tunnel Near Kvareli in Georgia (Winery…

Russia–Georgia Friendship Monument

In fact I had to open a Wikipedia to learn the name of this place, as I mistakenly thought this is just some cool viewing platform located high in the Caucasus mountains, built by Soviets. Turns out it's not only built by Soviets, but bears the name of The Russia–Georgia Friendship Monument Located on the Georgian Military Highway between the ski resort town of Gudauri and the Jvari pass, the monument is a large round stone and concrete structure overlooking the Devil's Valley in the Caucasus…

Idol Hill (Alkakalnis) near Salantai, Lithuania

God's path are untraceable, without a strong reason we made our first stop in Lithuania at Mosedis catholic church, then left Mosedis and continued our road just straight (without any directions yet in our minds), when we noticed a road sign "Alka Kalnis 2km" and decided to take that turn and visit ancient Lithuanian pagan ritual place. Well what else could Alka Kalnis stand for? From my short Lithuanian knowledge Alka could mean Idol and kalnis goes for hill. Turns out an Idol Hill.  This…
