3 day leisure trip to Germany (The Mossel Valley)

This is a round up post about our latest travel to Germany, at the end of May 2017. Our trip started at Dortmund airport, were we got a nice Nissan X-trail rental car from Hertz (about EUR 250 for 4 days). Although I've traveled to Germany countless times in the past, this is just third recap featured on blog, in fact about 2 years ago we made a similar trip to Germany but extended it it by visiting the Netherlands, see: My Germany and The Netherlands Travel Guide, also I briefly...

Planing a trip to Greece: How to get a Prepaid SIM Card with Internet

I traveled to Greece for about 2 weeks in June 2017, our final destination was island of Crete. One of the reasons I was looking for prepaid sim card in Greece is simple - for navigation (Google maps helps a lot). From my previous experience with dealing with different sim cards in multiple European countries I already knew, it shouldn't be a problem to get one in Greece. Planing a Trip to Spain: How to Get a Prepaid SIM Card in Spain I planned to purchase whatever operators SIm card...

Weekend trip to Telavi (Georgia) and Vicinty

This is a short recap article about our latest trip to the region of Kakheti in Western Georgia, during a weekend trip we stayed in a lovely Chataeu Mere hotel near Telavi and explored nearby vicinity. We did this trip as indie travelers, first booked hotel room, then contacted hotel and asked transfer service from our Tbilisi apartment to hotel (and back). For such transfer we paid GEL 70 (one way). Once at hotel (which cost to us about EUR 300 for 3 day stay) we ordered a local taxi service...

Day trip to Gori and nearby vicinity

Day trips to Gori and nearby vicinity are quite possible if traveling from Tbilisi. Although not so popular as day trips to Mtskheta and Jvari (because located very close to Tbilisi) a trip to Gori and region (Shida Kartli) is a nice way to travel though the past.  It was at the end of March 2017, when my business partner (traveltogeorgia.net) agreed to show me some cool and unseen places in Gori and nearby vicinity One of the most famous landmarks in Gori is the Stalin Museum...

10 Day Business / Leisure Trip to the United States (New York & Philadelphia)

A short 10 day trip to the United States, visiting 3 states (New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania)  Long story short - I had to fly to the United States for one reason - opening a bank account (see: How To Open A Bank Account in U.S., As A Non-resident Non - citizen, Wells Fargo Bank), for the flight we decided to go with Ukrainian airlines from Tbilisi via Kiev to New York city (see: About Tbilisi - Kiev - New York Flight by Ukrainian Airlines)  Unplanned flight delay in...

Brutal Tours - Explore Soviet Georgian Architecture in Tbilisi

A while ago with a friend of mine (another expat in Georgia) we started an online community on Facebook: Georgia Expat Photographer club. In matter of no time we gathered a critical member count and were looking to start offering some day trips in Tbilisi or Georgia, helping other photographers explore interesting and cool sites for a free or minimum charge. Like organizing these trips by ourselves between club members, kind of crowd funding for photographer travelers. Learn...

Cheap Direct London Luton - Kutaisi (Georgia) Flights

For a very long time there were no direct flight connection between United Kingdom and Georgia, leaving travelers from UK to choose layovers in other European cities. But now it has been changed for  good. Now, if you are looking for a direct flight London - Tbilisi, you will have to wait a little more longer, as currently just a direct flight between Kutaisi and Luton airport has to been established by June 18, 2017 Wizzair is well known European low budget air carrier with bases across...

Short Day Trip To Kiev, Ukraine

Long story short - we had a chance to spend in Kiev couple of hours, during our latest flight Tbilisi - Kiev - New York city, after our flight was delayed for about 10 hours at Kiev's Borispol airport we decided to use these hours by exploring Kiev, instead of waiting at airport's transit area. Out of the airport terminal at Borispol, there are buses taking passengers either to Kharkivksya or Vokzalnaya. The ticket prices are really cheap there. Since we didn't...

83 Reasons To Visit Georgia This Year

83 reasons to visit Georgia is a compilation (round up) post from my, more than five years long, experience living in Georgia as an expat and traveling a lot across Georgia. For the record, I still haven't traveled to the two must have destinations in Georgia: Svaneti and Tusheti, I hope to head to these mountainous and hard to reach regions soon. As I haven't been to these far away places yet, I haven't included them on list. When planing your trip to Georgia, consider to visit both...

About Tbilisi - Kiev - New York Flight by Ukrainian Airlines

In mid-November 2016 I faced an issue which I had to handle in the United States. I had to fly there soon. Our first choice was to fly with Turkish Airlines with connecting flight in Istanbul...

3 Day Trip Across Lithuania

Traditions should be respected. For the third year in a row I have been celebrating my birthday at one of the former Soviet Union member country's capital city. Year ago, I spent awesome birthday in Tallinn (Estonia) and two years ago in Yerevan, Armenia.  It was planned to visit Minsk (Belarus) for this year, but instead of Minsk, my better part took me on a lovely three day ride across Lithuania, reaching Vilnius (capital of Lithuania) in a second day. Now, another year, another...

Day Trip to Tianeti in Georgia

Tianeti seems is not among the most popular tourism routes in Georgia, I wonder why. Day trips to Tianeti (region of Mtsketa-Mtianeti) are quite possible and really easy doable.  We agreed not to spend Saturday mornings in the search for the best breakfast menu offers among Tbilisi restaurants, but rather spend our free time much valuable - exploring hidden gems of Georgia. An idea for day trips were born, and it was just a matter of asking my driver, could  he could...

Travelling From Telaviv, Israel to Yerevan, Armenia

An Israeli traveler recently contacted me and asked could I give an advice on traveling to Yerevan (Armenia) from Telaviv (Israel). Now, I must inform that I have never traveled directly route Telaviv - Yerevan, Thus I have done route Istanbul - Telaviv (once), Istanbul...

5 Days In Georgia Itinerary List - Make Most Of Your Trip

For the second time I felt as a real tourist in Georgia, let me explain - I have been living in Georgia for more than 5 years, thus for the past two years I'm spending Summer months in Latvia. This year we were absent from Georgia for about 6 months, and when returned - we had no choice but to travel a lot across the country, as the friends of my partner joined us during our journey back home to Tbilisi.  We booked our flight back to Georgia (Tbilisi) already at start of the August (back...

Best of Armenia in Two days (Yerevan and Beyond)

I arrived from Georgia (the country I have been living since 2011). Since then I have visited Armenia several more times, and all of them have turned out to be just another great trip experience.  See how I started a blog series on celebrating a birthday each year in another country: Celebrating Birthday in Yerevan, Armenia - Roundup or...

Short Day Trip to Lithuania (Curonian Spit)

At start of May 2016, we went on a short two day trip to Lithuania, we had no goal or destination planned. Just a spontaneous trip idea. Unfortunetly our car broke somewhere in middle of nowhere (Barta- Rucava road) and we had to stay overnight in Liepaja.  Next morning we booked a rental car and our spontaneous trip started. We visited Palanga, Klaipeda, Juodkrante and Nida on Curonian Spit.  Click on markers to see more info

Nida - Resort Town on Curonian Spit in Lithuania

Nida is a resort town in Lithuania, the administrative centre of Neringa municipality. Located on the Curonian Spit between the Curonian Lagoon and the Baltic Sea, it is the westernmost point of Lithuania and the Baltic states, close to the border with the Russian Kaliningrad Oblast exclave. It currently has about 1,650 residents. We arrived to Nida just shortly we paid a visit to Juodkrante (both are located on Curonian Spit)....

Juodkrante - Lithuanian Riviera

Juodkrante is a seaside resort town located on Curonian Spit in Lithuania some 20km from Klaipeda. To get on to the Curonian Spit you will need to take a ferry at Smiltyine terminal at first. I was really surprised of different architecture I seen here on Juodkrante and Curonian Spit. I you have ever been close to the Netherlands, you will find some similarities with Dutch architecture here, thus, most probably the architecture here is kept from times when Curonian Spit was part of...
