Does Facebook have an impact on SEO?

Published: 31 January, 2014 seen 1,200 Search Engine Optimization

My next big thing this year - is Facebook, if more precise, Facebook ADS for fan pages. Doing some adverts on Facebook, I started to wonder, does Facebook activity makes an impact on SEO? I have heard some speculations on this subject, and the best answer I could find is  - sort of! Sorta means, that there is no direct impact on SEO, but still some value is passed for SEO, by getting likes and shares. So I decided to make it clear, at least for myself. I will make an experiment for one of sites I ran - tourgeorgia.eu I'm interested to see, does Facebook will make impact on boosted posts.…

Creating a Drupal web agency in Tbilisi

This is an article back from 2014, when I had the vision to launch a web agency in Tbilisi, Georgia. In the end, I didn't launch one, but I still work with Drupal projects, if you need my assistance drop me a line.  As you may already know - I'm working as a Drupal developer, I'm building Drupal-powered sites. But not only. Working with Drupal doesn't mean - I work just core with Drupal - I do a lot of other things as well - like SEO, PPC, and other marketing activities. I'm in this business for some 10 years already, with core Drupal development tasks - some 4 years. I'm an entrepreneur as…

Link exchange - does it still work?

Published: 27 January, 2014 seen 1,091 Search Engine Optimization

Back in 90-ties, and early 2000ds - link exchange was must have SEO strategy.  Mainly used to gain Page Rank and better rankings in Google SERP. But then no-follow attribute was introduced, to stop Page Rank manipulations. I remember these days, when bloggers using WordPress CMS, had a blogroll with friends on it. In our days - it's hard to find blog with blogroll, and if so, it's nofollowed. But if you are a starter, and you haven't made your brands (blog) authority yet - what can you do? You can ask somebody from related category, to write a review of your blog and link you,…

Da Vinci's Demons

Don't remember how I discovered this TV series, but first season watched in overnight. From imdb.comWritten by David S. Goyer, the series follows the "untold" story of Leonardo Da Vinci: the genius during his early years in Renaissance Florence. As a 25-year old artist, inventor, swordsman, lover, dreamer and idealist, he struggles to live within the confines of his own reality and time as he begins to not only see the future, but invent it. Good Sci-Fi, and remember it - it's Sci-Fi, don't rely to much on that. After watching first season, desire to learn more about Da Vinci…

Facebook ads to sell a product

Published: 25 January, 2014 seen 891 Google Adsense Tips

Lately I'm getting my hands dirty by using paid Facebook options. I'm buying likes, I'm boosting posts, to drive traffic to site. And now I'm trying to sell a product via Facebook platform. Product: Link ads on tourism site Price: Low Place: Facebook sponsored stories and right sidebar ads People: Small bussines owners of specific country Budget: $5 Time frame: 24 hours   To get some ROI (return of investment) I must sell at least one link. It will be the same amount spent on Facebook ADS.   Tomorow I will post results how it ended after all.

Return of Google traffic

Published: 24 January, 2014 seen 665 Search Engine Optimization

I'm not sure is it due to some new Google algorithm update or not. But in the last 3 days, I'm seeing significant improvement in search traffic. Last year in the second half of August search traffic from Google dropped to 0. Overall it took about 5 months to recover. The thing is - I'm not sure what for I'm (was) recovering. One of the ideas - I had too many affiliate links, but on other hand - I doubt that because each link was on a separate page. Anyway - here are my thoughts, you should do to recover if your search traffic is lost/ or you don't want to get banned. Don't panic! When we…

100 days of blogging in row

The first 100 days have already passed away since I started the quest for myself - can I blog 365 days in a row. Results? I did it in the first 100 days - I blogged every day, even on Christmas Eve, and New Years day:) If honest - it's really frustrating process - but I must keep on. What about traffic? Well... it depends :) I have few readers, I even have some 40 Twitter followers, but the most precious thing I care about now - is the Facebook fan page. I have already 120 fans, from Armenia and Georgia. So I'm not sure- should I focus on Caucasus Region, should I go for a broader audience -…

Display node count per node reference field

Published: 20 January, 2014 seen 2,741 Drupal Development

Previous I wrote - How to display node count per taxonomy. Today I faced a problem displaying node count for a particular node reference field. The scenario is like this: We have two content types: Destination, Hotel. Each hotel is referenced to a specific destination by using node reference. We need to display how many hotels there are in all destinations. To achieve such a result, create a new View (content-based), for example, hotels Relationships: Add node reference field, in our case - field_where Other: Use aggregation: yes Fields: (field_where) Content: Title | Aggregation settings (…

In time WW1 broke out - Einstein was working with American astrophysics to photograph Solar Eclipse in Crimea, Russia - it failed. And as it turned out - his idea was wrong - so maybe WW1 helped him to save his carrer. On the other hand it's showed how Albert Einstein was against war, and how he was dissapointed into his colleagues, who were - pro war. Including Max Phlanx and Fritz Huber. I turns out…

Simple workaround to display Google adsense in Drupal views

Lately I'm working on optimizing performance of ads from Google Adsense served. So I wanted to add a Google Adsense not as block, but directly into views. At start sounds like an easy solution, but there is one problem - Custom field doesn't pass Javascript code. So I started to look for other solutions, how to pass Adsense directly into views. At start I wondered maybe Views PHP module might be an idea - but for some reason I didn't choose that. Another option I was considering to add some custom tpl.php files to theme files, by rewriting Drupal views page - but again - it might sound a good…
