Lately, I've been pondering over the question of whether it's possible to monetize traffic driven from Facebook Boosted Posts.
I recently conducted an experiment where I used the Facebook Boosted Posts feature for the first time and was impressed with the results. The traffic generated was so promising that I decided to test the potential for monetization through Google AdSense.
In January 2014, I planned to use Facebook Boosted Posts multiple times, each time spending $5, with the goal of driving at least 500 visitors to the website. I added Google AdSense ad units on the landing pages, hoping to see if the ads could earn me a profit.
The plan was to use Facebook Boosted Posts twice or maybe even three times a month and see if Google AdSense could pay off some of the expenses.
It is important to note that this experiment may not be in line with Google AdSense terms of service.

USD Value Increases Against GEL in 2013: Is It Worth the Panic?

If you're keeping an eye on the exchange rates, you might have noticed that the US dollar has been steadily gaining strength and by December 2013, it reached its peak. The exchange rate for 1 Georgian Lari on December 23, 2013 was set to 1.7168 according to the National Bank of Georgia, and in Tbilisi's money exchange points, the value went even higher to 1.7300 (SELL) and 1.7200 (BUY).
I've created a handy chart that shows the exchange rates for GEL from January 1, 2013 to December 23, 2013, so you can see the changes for yourself.
Now, some people might think that these fluctuations are artificially made, but who knows for sure, right? I'm just a regular person, not a millionaire, so I don't really feel the effects of these changes on a daily basis.
If you're curious, though, on January 1, $1000 was worth 1656.2 GEL, but on December 23, $1000 was worth 1716.8 GEL, which means there was a difference of 60.6 GEL compared to the start of the year. That's an increase of the value of the US dollar against the GEL by 3.5% in 2013. Is it worth panicking over? I don't think so, but maybe just a little bit. My personal forecast is that by spring, the GEL should bounce back, but who am I to make such predictions?
If you're doing business in Georgia and you're worried that the GEL might crash, my suggestion would be to switch your currency to USD or EUR. Just a thought!

We will use HTML5.
Now you must add JavaScript SDK to your theme, you can load JavaScript with the theme .info file
Once JavaScript is added to your theme - go to your views, add a new field - path, exclude it from your display, and move it under the custom text field (custom text I use for views overrides)
Now open your custom text field and add HTML5 code from the Facebook page, change URL to [path] field:
<div class="fb-share-button" data-href="[path]" data-type="button_count"></div>And in final you should get your views containing the Facebook share button, with links to each node in views. Save this view and display it on the Drupal site using blocks.

How to automatically add watermarks to uploaded images in Drupal

Drupal is a powerful content management system (CMS) that allows users to create and manage websites with ease. One of the features that make Drupal popular among users is its flexibility and extensibility. Drupal's module system allows users to add functionalities to their websites, including automatic watermarking of uploaded images.
If you are making photos and publicizing them to the internet - sooner or later you will find that you want to protect them somehow.
Protect yourself from people stealing your artwork and re-publishing pictures in other places. One way to protect images is to add watermarks. Well, it doesn't mean someone still won't steal your pictures, but at least your watermark will be on.
I have found one solution in Drupal 7, using the ImageCache action module:
As you can see on picture above - I have added simple watermark on bottom right corner. And it's done with Drupal Image Cache actions module.
- Download ImageCache actions module
- Extract to sites/all/modules
- Enable Imagecache Canvas Actions
Now go to your image style settings (admin/config/media/image-styles) and add new or edit existing image style.
Here you can see I have added new Effect Overlay (watermark) and added image on that.
You can use some photo editing software to create your image to add on image, or you can use your existing logo, for example. I created simple .png transparent file with text on that, and rotated it 90°
Image Cache actions give you some options for where to place a watermark. I have chosen to place it bottom right.
I would call this a foolproof solution, to protect your images. The negative aspect is that, if you are familiar with Drupal file upload path settings you can easily take the original image, which came without a watermark. On the other hand, I guess you can use some permissions, to disallow users to access original files. Not sure, right now.

How to configure postmarkapp to work with Drupal webform

If you are running your site under Apache then most probably your server will be auto configured with mail send module.
But if you are running, lets say Ngnix without mail send function enabled, then you might consider some options to send e-mails from your site. And one of this options is to use Postmarkapp.com service.
Today I'll show how to configure your Drupal powered site to deliver e-mails using postmarkapp and few handy modules.
At first - go to the postmarkapp.com and sign up for a new user (if you haven't done that already)
N.B. Postmarkapp.com wont allow to use major public domain names like gmail.com, so use your custom domain name instead.
Once you have been registered, you'll see screen like this:
Click on the blue button, suggesting to Setup a New Server
Enter the name of your new server and click on Next Step
Screen with deployment actions will appear, and at the result you should see congratulations, that your new server has been created. Now you should add some sender signatures (without sender signatures thing will not work)
Again, click on Add a sender signature button.
Enter details as follows:
Once clicked on Create signature button, an e-mail will be delivered to your inbox, asking to confirm your e-mail address
Now go to your inbox and confirm your e-mail address. Once confirmed, the rest is just details :)
For now lets leave postmarkapp alone.
Lets move to the Drupal part.
You will have to install Postmark module, as well you will need to download postmark library and put it on your sites/all/libraries folder:
